- Fact 2 - Definition: The brain is
the center of the
nervous system, continuous with the spinal cord and enclosed
and protected by the skull. It is composed of cells called
neurons and glia and is the control center of the body. It makes
us think, see, hear, feel and taste enables us to:
- Learn
- Move
- Create
- Breath
- Feel emotions
- Fact 3 - The main parts of the
brain are the:
- Cerebrum
- Cerebellum
- Brain stem
- Pituitary gland
- Hypothalamus
- Fact 4 - The brain uses 20% of the
body's energy, but it makes up only 2% of the body's weight
- Fact 5 - In humans, the right side
of the brain controls the left side of the body, whilst the left
side controls the right side of he body
- Fact 6 - The Cerebrum is the
biggest part and controls muscles enabling movement and the
higher mental functions such as consciousness, thought, reason,
emotion, and memory
- Fact 7 - The Cerebellum controls
balance for walking and standing, and other complex motor
functions

functions such as heart rate and breathing
- Fact 9 - The Pituitary gland makes
