  • Fact 1 - Definition: An aquatic and land reptile, of the order Testudines, having a bony shell and flipper-like limbs for swimming. There are approximately 300 species of turtles. 

  • Fact 2 - The top domed part of a turtle's shell is called the carapace and the bottom underlying part is called the plastron
  • Fact 3 - The largest is the Leatherback sea turtle which can reach up to 10 feet in length.
