Facts About Michelangelo

Michelangelo was a genius of the renaissance period. His skills were legendary - painter, architect, engineer, mathematician and philosopher but he is perhaps best known for his paintings especially that of the painting of ' The Last Judgment ' on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and his sculpture of the Statue of David. Michelangelo's sculptures were often sculpted from marble blocks which he personally selected from the quarry in Carrara, Italy.
