Facts About Salvador Dali
Increase your knowledge of facts about the flamboyant Salvador Dali, the great Spanish Surrealist Painter, with some brief, but essential events, and important information about this great artist. Salvador Dali was one of the greatest of the Surrealist group of Artists, although he was not accepted by them due to his strong right wing views.

He often clashed with Andre Breton and other Surrealists and this acrimony led to a string of insults from each party. Andre Breton is famous for his anagram for Dali's name "Avida Dollars"  meaning "Eager for Dollars" The response of Dali to such comments was "The only difference between me and the Surrealists is that I am a Surrealist".

He described his work as "hand painted dream photographs". His most famous work is The Persistence Of Memory. He was also a sculptor, writer and  movie maker ( he made the Surrealist film ‘Un Chien Andalou’ with Buсuel in 1929). His most famous paintings were The Persistence Of Memory, Crucifixion and the Last Supper.

"I'll be a genius... Perhaps I'll be despised and misunderstood, but I'll be a genius, a great genius."
