The Yuchi tribe of Indians were later occupants of South
Carolina. The Yuchi tribe of Indians originally lived
in the eastern Tennessee River valley in Tennessee. They were
were decimated from extensive epidemics of new infectious
diseases and warfare from other tribes. During the 17th century,
they moved south to Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina. They
were included in the Creek confederacy for political reasons in
the 19th century

Tuscarora War The Tuscarora were a tribe of nearly 300
warriors who lived along the banks of the Trent River in North
Carolina. European settlers stole their women and children and
sold them of slaves. This led to the Tuscarora War which was
fought between the British, Dutch, and German settlers and the
Tuscarora Indians from 1711 until 1715 when the Tuscarora
are defeated and a treaty was signed
- Fact 22 - The Yamasee tribes lived
in the northern coastal Georgia near the Savannah River and
later in northeastern Florida. In 1687 the Spanish attempted to
send Yamasees to the West Indies as slaves which resulted in the
tribe rebelling against the Spanish missions. The Yamasee tribe
moved into South Carolina.

War - An Indian confederation led by the Yamasee came close to
exterminating the white settlements in their area. The Yamasee
War was a bloody conflict between British settlers of colonial
South Carolina and various Native American Indian tribes. The
Yamasee tribe had been strong military allies of South Carolina
colonists. Their warriors joined the conflicts in South Carolina
together with other tribes such as the Creek and Cherokee. The
confederation of tribes killed hundreds of colonists and
destroyed many settlements. The conflict ended in a Colonial
government victory
